Cast Steel Solution for CIBC Tower II

CIBC Square Tower II is a 54-story commercial high-rise project built in Toronto, Canada, above an active train line. To accommodate building over this infrastructure, the building tapers down at its lower levels, creating unique, geometric connection design and construction challenges on the project. Custom cast steel solutions solved these challenges by forming critical corner nodes within the concrete core, simplifying fabrication and construction, and providing the necessary strength to resist large gravity and deviating forces.

Companies involved in this innovation:

CAST CONNEX researched, developed, designed, manufactured and supplied cast steel solutions and components for CIBC Square Tower II.

RJC was the Engineer of Record for the project and included the components in their design and specified cast steel solutions.

Canam Group/Supermetal Construction Inc. was the Steel Fabricator for the project, and incorporated the cast steel components with their steel fabrication assemblies and installed on-site.
