Leafy: Artificial Gardens of Kinetic Leaves that Help Shape Actual Parks
Leafy is an artificial garden made of modular, kinetic leaves mimicking nature, maintains a resilient, regenerative environment for actual vegetation and plants, especially in hyper-arid lands; resolving urban heat islands, providing sufficient care, and awareness about the conscious use of water and reminding the legacy of planting more trees. This ongoing research project was developed to address the challenges of urban heat islands, water scarcity, and energy consumption in arid environments. The innovation has been explored through computational simulations, material studies, and environmental analysis to evaluate its potential impact, including a case study in Abu Dhabi. The research focuses on biomimetic- cooling, kinetic-shading, passive-water-collection, &renewable energy integration, drawing inspiration from natural intelligence to create self-sustaining urban microclimates. This innovation is a climate-positive installation that mimics nature to help heal itself, a hybrid symbiosis of industrial ecology and natural environment that care for each other.
